There are other crucial factors we look at when considering
a project.

A market has to exists for the product you are developing.
As simple as this sounds, most start-up companies miss this
because their idea or vision is far greater than what the
marketplace is ready for. While we are looking for
technology of tomorrow, there has to be a platform for
growth. An example would be “mobile applications”. One could
make the assumption that the increased adaptation of
cell-phone usage calls for the demand for better cell phones
with innovative mobile applications is inevitable, so
getting ahead of the curve yields significant results for
developers that create top of the line niche applications
for these devices.

Projects that the targeted market is validated by paying
customers is an excellent beginning. By developing an
internet or software application where the value is driven
by the number of actual customers – these projects tend to
be more favorable to acquisitions, hence providing a solid
immediate revenue stream as opposed to depending on
ad-revenue sales. More often these projects tend to have
lower start up costs, in which the developers spend just
enough to develop the project to attract an existing market.

We have all been there and heard it all. And we sincerely
believe the proof is in the pudding. Building a product with
the intent on selling at the end of the day is sometimes no
more realistic then TEJU Partners funding your project,
without meeting you first. We want to reduce the risk by any
means necessary, so before you start thinking that you’ve
thought of a great idea, and now you’re focused on getting
venture capitalist buy-in, prove your theory, concept, or
application. There is nothing more valuable then being able
to say X number of customers have provided their feedback,
OR we currently have X number of subscribers, etc. Investors
are a lot smarter with making wiser decisions on what
projects to fund. Don’t become another “me-too” start-up
looking for funding. Or you will be waiting longer than
expected.
